This award is based on the following criteria: achievement of objectives, recent achievements, management skills, entrepreneurial vision, sustainable development initiatives, community involvement, technical and financial performance within the company and personal abilities.
Alexis Waridel, Young Farmer of the Year
Graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Laval University and a college diploma in farm business management, he has been dedicated to the family business, Lochette Farm, since his early childhood.
Lochette Farm, located in Mont-Saint-Grégoire since 1975, has specialized in the production and sale of lambs since its major turn in 2003. Among the many lamb producers in Quebec, few produce, process and market their product like Lochette Farm.
Alexis’ active involvement in the heart of the farm has improved the company’s profitability and ensured its sustainability. Always on the lookout for new ways of working and growing environmental issues, Alexis is ready to overcome the major challenges of tomorrow’s agriculture. “I believe deeply in a society that supports local and more environmentally friendly agriculture. ” – Alexis Waridel, farmer.
